A single gondolier heads out to the Grand Canal to begin another day of taxi service, which for centuries has been the main mode of transportation for the island city of Venice. Gondoliers are now limited in number and are required to be licensed and tested to carry on the great tradition. There is something romantic and peaceful about this manner of transportation, gliding effortlessly through the many canals of this miraculous and uniquely beautiful city of Venice.
