I wanted my first painting of Monhegan to capture the essence of the small fishing village.  Looking down onto the village after hiking up the hill to Monhegan Light, one has an expansive view of the small fishing village, Manana Island, and the vast waters beyond.  I find the rustic island enchanting and to me it is no wonder that Monhegan is the muse of many artists including Jamie Wyeth and Rockwell Kent.
