This painting of the Isaac H. Evans was inspired by the old ship paintings of the 1800’s. Many of the Antonio Jacobson and Buttersworth paintings of ships were done portrait style, directly from the starboard or port side of the ship. I liked the lines of the ship so much I thought it deserved to be captured portrait style! She is over one hundred years old and still sails out of Rockland, Maine. She is a true treasure.
