Win the Isaac H. Evans Schooner – Not my painting but the actual ship!

On our website, I wrote about painting the Isaac H. Evans portrait style, from the port side.  I felt the historic national landmark schooner, launched in 1866, should be rendered in a classic style.  I put in every tiny detail I could see and paint.  I could write an essay on how I find the ship to be a beautiful reminder of the golden days of sail; how well it’s been maintained; and how lucky one would be to own it; but then I might find myself owning a 100 + year old schooner!!! :-)

That’s right, the owner Captain Brenda Walker has decided to give her ship away by having an essay contest.  She needs 8000 people to enter the 200-word essay competition and pay the entry fee of $125 to be able to give the Isaac H. Evans away.

Below are a few detail shots of my painting of the Isaac H. Evans.  I was looking at it the other day, in my studio after reading about the contest and enjoyed remembering the beauty of the ship.
